Conservative commentator Dinesh D'Souza's new film "2,000 Mules" alleges massive voter fraud in the 2020 election, but NPR has found the filmmakers made multiple misleading and false claims.

Civil rights attorneys announced Monday they filed a lawsuit against the city of Atlanta for the death of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner during demonstrations last summer.

Tuesday on Political Rewind: A high number of incidents of gun violence are gripping the nation. Georgia communities are struggling to address the issue. And the family of Secoriea Turner has now filed lawsuits against Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and other Atlanta city leaders, accusing them of failing to protect the life of the 8-year-old girl who was struck down last summer. 

For eight short years, Secoriea Turner was a bubbly, bright child who loved to dance, make TikTok videos and make new friends. She lit up every room she entered.

When Secoriea Turner, an 8-year-old Black girl from west Atlanta, was killed in the aftermath of Rayshard Brooks’ death, civil rights attorney Mawuli Davis knew something had to be done.

“We believe Secoriea should be lifted up as a martyr of this movement,” he said. 

November 24 is a bittersweet day. While several families prepare for socially distanced Thanksgiving festivities and children relish in the holiday break from virtual learning, some loved ones are preparing to recognize Secoriea Turner's ninth birthday. She will not be here to celebrate. 

Georgetta Morton is among those mourning the girl's death, and she's doing so by creating a memorial in Decatur. 

In a show of solidarity, several of Atlanta's prominent civil rights attorneys united in a joint press conference in front of City Hall on Monday morning to criticize what they said was a two-faced effort on behalf of Mayor Lance Bottoms and the city attorney's office in the handling of police brutality cases.

The funeral for 8-year-old Secoriea Turner took place in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Turner was killed after armed men shot at her car on July 4th, near the site where Rayshard Brooks was killed by a police officer last month.
