Georgia's College-Bound Students Hit SAT Highs Despite Pandemic Turmoil

Public school students across the state increased their average math score from 511 to 531 over last year’s class, and evidence-based reading and writing went from 532 to 546. Overall, the average Georgia student’s SAT score was 1077, 39 points higher than the national average.

The largely empty Gwinnett Place Mall was once the pride of one of Georgia’s fastest-growing counties. In September, county leaders held a “welcoming week” to get community input on the mall’s future. In 1990, Gwinnett County was 97% white. Today, it’s majority-minority and one of the most diverse counties in the nation.

Justice Department Launches Probe Of Conditions In Georgia Prisons

About 60% of current COVID-19 outbreaks in Georgia are occurring in K-12 schools across the state, public health officials said Tuesday.
