Georgia Voters Pass Three Ballot Questions By Wide Margins

While high-profile races in Georgia remained uncertain after Election Day, voters have overwhelmingly approved two constitutional amendments and one statute on this year’s statewide ballot.

A constitutional change requiring that state fees and taxes collected for a specific purpose are spent as intended passed with 81.4% of the vote.

Feds Okay Georgia's Second Healthcare Waiver Plan, But Controversies Remain

Federal officials, as expected, have approved Georgia’s waiver request to revamp the state’s health insurance market for people who don’t get job-based or government coverage.

The waiver will create a “reinsurance’’ program that state officials estimate will cut insurance premiums for individual coverage by an average of 10 percent.

Political Rewind: Georgians Find Polls With Few Lines, Little Disruption So Far

Tuesday afternoon on Political Rewind: Election Day plows along, and casting ballots has been smoother than expected. With more than 4 million people in Georgia who have voted early, voting lines are few and far between, and there's little disruption to Election Day voters casting their votes — an unexpected turn of events, as election officials previously warned of millions of voters showing up to the polls.

For a year of her life, Linda Ferguson lived in a booth at a transit stop. She spent another year living under a bridge.

Her homelessness, she says now, “was a bad situation. Nobody likes to be outside. It’s a very insecure feeling.’’ At one point Ferguson, who deals with severe anxiety attacks, lost her car to theft. Later, her personal belongings were taken.
