Power outages and a high risk of flooding spark concern in South Georgia, with no estimates of full damage yet. 

Be aware: NOAA and GEMA say the dangerous storm may bring catastrophic flooding to Coastal Georgia, with rainfall predicted in the range of 10 to 30 inches.

Forecasters expect between 17 and 25 named storms in the Atlantic Ocean during the 2024 season, about half of which are likely to become hurricanes.

Forecasters warned a wave of dangerous storms in the U.S. could march through parts of the South early Thursday, after deadly storms a day earlier spawned damaging tornadoes and massive hail.

Tropical Storm watches and areas of flash and urban flooding, some of which may be locally significant, are expected across Southern Georgia through Wednesday, spreading into portions of the eastern Carolinas Wednesday into Thursday.

The most recent hurricane to make landfall in Georgia was Hurricane Michael in October 2018. Farms in Georgia lost billions of dollars after top crops were ravaged by the storm.
