Grant is a multimedia editor and reporter based in Macon. Additionally, he teaches and mentors college journalism students by virtue of the GPB Macon bureau's relationship with the Center for Collaborative Journalism at Mercer University.

Grant came to public media after a career spent in newspaper photojournalism. As an all platform journalist he seeks to wed the values of public radio storytelling and the best of photojournalism online.

White House Task Force: Macon Out Of Coronavirus Red Zone

Macon-Bibb County has moved out of the “red zone” and into the “yellow” for coronavirus spread, according to the new White House Coronavirus Task Force report released on September 6, and shared by the Center for Public Integrity.

Macon is joined by other regional cities like Warner Robins, Milledgeville, Columbus and even the former worldwide hotspot of Albany as falling out of the zone of highest concern for the virus in the report dated September 6.

Ashley Harden trades her number in line, 36 out of 1,500, for a WifI hotspot at the Bibb Schools Professional Learning Center Tuesday. Demand for the hotspots was so strong the district had to turn away parents from the line about half an hour into the nine hour window for handing out the cellular wireless devices.

Before Virtual School, The Struggle To Go Online

When Bibb County Schools went online at the start of the pandemic in March, the district quickly lost contact with about 14% of their student body, some 3,000 kids. To avoid that now, they need reliable internet.

UGA Finds 798 Student Coronavirus Cases In First Week Of Classes

The University of Georgia documented 798 coronavirus infections among students in the first full week of classes, according to a press release Wednesday.

The student cases were part of 821 total cases further spread among faculty and staff in that same week, between Aug. 24-30. That’s more than 75% of the total cases documented on campus since Aug. 10.
