Congratulations Northwest Georgia!

Northwest Georgia is one of the 12 regions selected to be a part of the new manufacturing initiative making them eligible for a share of $1.3 billion in federal assistance. The communities will be able to apply for funds for local manufacturing projects.

The 12 communities are a part of the Manufacturing Communities Partnership Initiative, designed to accelerate the resurgence of manufacturing. 

In a recent statement, Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker said, "The 12 Manufacturing Communities announced today represent a diverse group of communities with the most comprehensive economic development plans to attract business investment that will increase their competitiveness.”

So, where does the funding come from? All funding will be contributed from 11 federal agencies including the Appalachian Regional Commission, National Sciene Foundation, Small Business Administration and department of Agriculture, Defense, Commerce, and Labor.
