Plant Vogtle Expansion is the Largest Current Development Project in Georgia

Delays have been overcome and construction of new nuclear reactors at plant Vogtle in east Georgia is back on track.

The building of nuclear units 3 and 4 represents the largest current development project in Georgia. The Southern Company, parent to Georgia Power, is overseeing the project and reports that 5,000 construction jobs will be filled during peak construction.

The completion of the new reactors is expected in 2017 and 2018. Once fully operational the additional nuclear units will result in 800 permanent jobs.
