Forget Super Bowl XLVIII! There are two other more important competitive sports matches airing on February 2, namely the Puppy Bowl X on the Animal Planet at 3 p.m. and the Kitten Bowl I on the Hallmark Channel at 12 p.m.

As it’s name suggests, the Puppy Bowl has been around for 10 years while this is the inaugural Kitten Bowl game. Both will exhibit fierce displays of cuteness. Who can resist puppies tackling each other over football toys or kittens chasing after laser pointers?

The Puppy Bowl’s halftime show will feature the online cat sensation Keyboard Cat who will channel his inner Bruno Mars, the halftime entertainment of that other bowl game, by playing Mars’ “Locked Out of Heaven.

At the Kitten Bowl an array of human stars will appear including Regis Philbin and Rachel Ray.

Three Puppy Bowl competitors are from Georgia. Ginger, an old English Sheepdog mix hails from the Fayette Humane Society in Peachtree City, Georgia.

Both Poppy, a Shih Tzu/Brussells Griffon Mix and Roxy, a Shih Tzu/Chihuahua Mix are from the Shih Tzus & FurBabies Rescue organization, located in Saint Mary’s, Georgia.

All of the kittens participating in Kitten Bowl I are from the North Shore Animal League.

By the way many of the animals have been adopted or are up for adoption as ultimately these events promote pet rescue.

So which bowl game are you planning to watch or will you watch both? Let me know!
