Filmmaker Ken Burns has produced and directed historical documentaries for more than 30 years. In March, 140 documentary filmmakers signed <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/03/31/982706363/filmmakers-call-out-pbs-for-a-lack-of-diversity-over-reliance-on-ken-burns">a letter</a> to PBS executives, suggesting the service may provide an unfair level of support to white creators.
