Shock, grief and mourning for 3 Georgia-based US soldiers killed in Middle East drone strike

Shock and grief are rippling across Georgia after the U.S. Defense Department announced three Army Reserve soldiers from the state were killed in a weekend drone strike in Jordan. Those killed were identified Monday as Sgt. William Jerome Rivers of Carrollton, Spc. Kennedy Sanders of Waycross and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett of Savannah.

A college instructor in Georgia has been charged with murder in the Saturday shooting death of an 18-year-old Anna Jones. A GoFundMe page set up for Jones’ funeral expenses say she was “a beautiful, sweet soul and her smile would light up a room.”

Georgia instructor charged in fatal shooting of student

A college instructor in Georgia has been charged with murder in the Saturday shooting death of an 18-year-old student. The Carrollton Police Department said in a news release that Richard Sigman is charged with murder and aggravated assault for his involvement in the shooting death of 18-year-old Anna Jones.

Political Rewind: Race, justice and murder in 'The Three Death Sentences of Clarence Henderson'

Monday on Political Rewind: The case of Clarence Henderson. Henderson was convicted and sentenced to death not once but three times for the 1948 murder of 22-year-old Buddy Stevens, an Army veteran and son of a well-known Carrollton, Ga., family. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s reporter Chris Joyner said that the strange story of Henderson and Stevens had been part of his life since he began his career in newspapers more than 20 years ago. And now, he’s turned it into a fascinating book: The Three Death Sentences of Clarence Henderson.
