Members of the Congressional Jan. 6 committee held their first televised hearing Thursday. Lawmakers investigating the attack showed new video clips of the insurrection, including damning testimony from top Trump advisors and people who were there that day. Among the first witnesses was an Atlanta native and U.S. Capitol police officer.

Voting rights organizations are challenging a recently drawn map for school board districts in Cobb County.

During the pandemic the U.S. Department of Agriculture expanded access to school lunch waivers. Now those rules that helped feed more kids are set to expire at the end of June. 

The streets of Athens will see their first ever Pride parade this weekend.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is expected to testify publicly before the U.S. House committee investigating the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Congress is under intense pressure to pass stricter gun control measures in the wake of the Uvalde and Buffalo mass shootings. Members of the U.S. House are moving quickly to send legislation to the Senate. Among those is a bill that passed today championed by Georgia lawmaker U.S. Rep. Lucy McBath.

Some South Georgia residents see delays in rental assistance

Valdosta's Partnership to End Homelessness said it has seen an overwhelming amount of renters seeking help filing for assistance because of a backlogged system.

A spokesman for the agency processing rental assistance said his department is working 'feverishly' to process cases.
