We pay a visit to the CSX REDI Center in midtown Atlanta, where we talk with the fine folks of CSX about their 3,000 employees scattered around the state. REDI is the acronym for Railroad Education and Development Institute. That’s where most CSX employees come to learn about what it takes to work on the railroad, which also makes it a great place for us to learn more about CSX jobs.

Welding: to join pieces of metal together by heating the edges until they begin to melt and then pressing them together
Thermite: a mixture of metal powder and metal oxide that can lit on fire
Chemical Reaction: a process in which one or more substances, the reactants, are converted to one or more different substances, the products
Oxide: a compound of oxygen and another substance
Ore: rocks, earth, etc., from which a valuable metal can be taken
Horsepower: a unit used to measure the power of engines
