Music is major on the campus of Augusta University!

Take a quick glance at the calendars for the venues on campus and you’ll find a menagerie of melodies as varied as the colors in a prism.

This year, GPB-Augusta and Augusta University's Dept. of Music are adding to the offerings with the launch of “The Classical Music Concert Series”. We’re presenting three events for discerning audiences that appreciate the Joy of Strauss, Schumann, Rachmaninoff, and much more.

Thursday October 8th at 7:30pm in Maxwell Theatre on the Augusta University Campus, The Classical Music Concert Series gets underway with the Gala Concert showcasing Augusta University's music students and honoring music scholarship donors. Performances by the University's Orchestra, Choral Ensembles, Wind Ensemble, The Opera and Musical Theatre Ensembles are included on the program. Proceeds from the sale of tickets (which are available online at MaxwellTheatre) help fund scholarships for University music students. Some tickets also include access to The Classical Music Concert Series Gala Reception happening backstage immediately before the show.

The second event is Tuesday December 1st: a holiday spectacular featuring Wycliffe Gordon displaying the breadth of his musical virtuosity.

And a third event is slated for April 21, 2016 showcasing the University's “Concerto Competition” winners in concert with The Augusta University Orchestra.

We’ll post more details about the second and third concerts in the weeks ahead, but right now the focus is on the Thursday October 8th Gala Concert, inaugurating “The Classical Music Concert Series”.

Great Music + Great People + Great Cause = A Great Night!
