#4 Tift County at #8 Brookwood Recruiting Watch

Fourth-ranked Tift County and eighth-ranked Brookwood meet for just the second-time ever when the Blue Devils travel back to Atlanta for the second straight week and play the Broncos in the quarterfinals of the GHSA 7A Playoffs in Snellville.

The only other meeting between the Blue Devils and Broncos came back in the 1997 state semifinals with a 21-14 Tift County win.  The Blue Devils won their second-round game at Hillgrove last week while Brookwood advanced with a win over Milton.

All the action starts Friday on GPB at 7:00 p.m. with the All-Access Pass Pre-Game Show. Here’s a look at the top college football prospects playing in the playoff matchup:

Tift County Blue Devils

Andrew Johnson – Committed to Oregon August 1st over 19 other offers including Georgia, Alabama, Auburn and Arkansas.  Johnson is a 247 Sports Composite 3-star outside linebacker / defensive end.  The 6-2, 222-pound senior has played most of this season as a linebacker but goes into this playoff game expected to play at DE.  Johnson has recorded 89 tackles this season with 5 TFL and 2 quarterback sacks.

Rashod Bateman – Committed to Minnesota June 12th over 19 other offers and has since picked-up offers from Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and UCF this fall.  Bateman is a 247 Sports Composite 3-star wide receiver.  The 6-1, 180-pound senior runs a 4.5 40 and has been the top WR in the state statistically all season long. Bateman enters this quarterfinal playoff game with an astounding 74 catches for 1,383 yards and 18 touchdowns.  He averages 115 receiving yards-per-game and 18.7 yards per catch.  He needs 272 yards to set the state’s single season receiving record. #WorthThePriceOfAdmission!

Brookwood Broncos

Matthew Hill - Committed to Auburn August 17th over 16 other offers but he has since picked-up an offer from Georgia and he has twice paid unofficial visits to Clemson this fall. Hill is a 24/7 Sports Composite 4-star who is ranked the #31 wide receiver in the country and the #19 overall prospect in Georgia. The 6-2, 185-pound senior runs a 4.6 40 and visited with us in our GPB Sports studio this season on Football Fridays in Georgia Inside Edition. Even though he committed to the Tigers in August, Hill says he decided on Auburn months earlier after watching quarterbacks Jarrett Stidham and former Roswell High School star Malik Willis throw the deep ball in Offensive Coordinator Chip Lindsey’s (former Lassiter Head Coach) offense during the A-Day Game. Hill has 38 catches for 723 yards this season and seven touchdowns. He has also run ball 57 times for 536 yards and three scores.

Casey Holman – Committed to Duke March 6th over 22 other offers. Holman is a 24/7 Sports Composite 3-star offensive tackle who is expected to play guard or center for the Blue Devils.  Sometimes things move quickly. The 6-4, 285-pound senior was invited to Duke’s junior day back in February.  Two days later he was in Durham and offered a scholarship while sitting in Head Coach David Cutcliffe’s office.  A month later Holman was back on campus for Duke’s Spring Showcase and he committed.

Jamison Collier – Committed to Ohio September 29th over 5 other offers 24/7 Sports Composite 3-star athlete. He plays free safety for the Broncos. The 6-3, 190-pound senior has 79 tackles this season and one interception.
