We hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July holiday, but not that it’s come and gone it’s time to focus on improving our lives. One way of doing that is to get a better job (or get a job, period).

One of the best ways to get a new job is to attend a job fair.

Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) will host its annual Career Fair and Job Expo in Dublin on July 18 and in Sandersville on July 20 from 9 AM to 12 PM.

“There are many local companies and organizations that are seeking employees, particularly those with the technical skills we teach at OFTC,” said Saketta Brown, OFTC Career Services and Disabilities Coordinator. “The programs we offer reflect the labor needs of our communities. We’ll also have members of our admissions and financial aid team available to walk participants through the application process if they’d like to enroll in one of our hands-on programs.”

JOB FAIR TIPS

·        Dress Appropriately. Remember, dress for the job you want, not the one you have.

·        Print SEVERAL copies of your resume. Your resume is perhaps the best weapon you have for a job hunt. Make sure you have plenty of them.

·        SMILE! Remember that a job fair is busy and lots of candidates will be there. Stand out with enthusiasm and positivity.

·        Follow up with people you speak with. Get business cards and email addresses and send thank-you notes as a follow up. These work!
