I’ve talked about the High Demand Career Initiative in this space before. You can click the link to learn more about it.

Basically it’s designed to identify what industries will be most in need of skilled labor moving forward and figuring out ways to ensure a proficient workforce exists for them.

One way the HDCI does this is by awarding grants to various regions that work directly with industries within them. Three Rivers WorkSource is one such region, and it was just awarded a $250,000 grant to create training and implementation programs for its local industries.

KIA, Mando America Corporation, Powertech America, Jordan Forest Products, American Woodmark, 1888 Mills, Tencate, JAC Products and Universal Pasteurization and Cold Storage all supported the grant, because those industries dominate the region in terms of employment.

What This Means For You

The grant is for three main industries as manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare occupations have been identified as the most in-demand for the region.

If you’re in a career you don’t enjoy or don’t see yourself in down the road, these high-demand careers make a lot of sense. If you need training, this is where the grant comes into play.

This grant will go toward creating training programs available to you. That means you can get the training and certifications needed to enter these fields. Some of this training can be done in less than a year; some perhaps more. It all depends on what you’re going for.
