If you live near Macon (or fancy a drive) your future might take a turn for the better at the Job Readiness and Recruitment Event taking place April 18th at the Professional Science Building at Middle Georgia State University. The event is free and open to everyone.

Make sure to come dressed for success and armed with updated résumé as job seekers will be interviewed on-site for positions in manufacturing and other industries.

But there’s more. The event, which is hosted by the Georgia Department of Labor, will also assess attendees for applicable job training programs.

As the Macon Telegraph reported, The Department of Labor’s staff and others will discuss job-training programs, including on-the-job training, with the job seekers. Also, the labor department will conduct job search workshops and provide other employment-related services to the job seekers.

The Workforce Division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development is another sponsor of the event, and it has a litany of resources for job seekers, including access to funds for training and education purposes. The Workforce Division (of which yours truly is an employee) is awesome and I can’t stress enough how helpful it is for those looking for good, honest work.

If you’re interested in attending, make sure to set up a free account at employgeorgia.com. You can upload a resume (or get help in creating one) and having this account will speed up the interview process.

Per the Telegraph, some of the employers from throughout Middle Georgia expected to participate in the event include sheriff’s offices, state prisons, nursing homes, government offices, vehicle leasing companies, restaurants and at least one distribution center.

This could be the event that kickstarts a new career. It costs nothing to attend and can lead to a entirely new lifestyle. I think y’all should check it out.
