Today is the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Congress has designated this day as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. This is a way for families and communities to come together to honor those who responded and lost their lives through acts of good.

There are several websites that have culled together information on ways to serve today and all year round. Here is a short list of them.

  • AllforGood.org - Provides volunteer opportunities across the state that can be in person, virtual or self-directed. Some opportunities for serving today include helping at food banks. You can also post a volunteer project of your own.
  • 911day.org - Matches people with volunteer projects happening today and all year round. Some projects include creating care packages for veterans. The database is powered by Volunteermatch.com.
  • 911memorial.org - The official 9/11 memorial site provides resources where people can create their own commemoration activities. People are guided on how to create online communities and commemorations in schools.
  • Unitedway.org - The United Way has offices across the state and offers volunteer projects all year round.
