To be No. 1 you must beat No. 1. And Jefferson did just that, upsetting defending champion and top-ranked Calhoun 31-14 in the 2A Finals to claim the Dragons first ever state title. Legendary coach T. McFerrin’s team was led by QB Bryant Shirreffs three rushing touchdowns and 310 total yards. A dominant defense held the high-powered Yellow Jackets’ to their lowest point total of the season.
