Two of the state’s winningest programs will be featured when GPB’s Football Friday’s in Georgia broadcasts the Class 6A semifinal game between No. 6 Valdosta visits No. 2 Buford.

Valdosta has won 24 state championships, most recently in 2016. Buford has won 12 state championships and won the Class 5A title in 2019.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

Valdosta (7-4), the No. 2 seed from Region 1, advanced with a 36-15 win over Carrollton. The Wildcats are coached by Rush Propst, who recently won his 300th game as a head coach. Propst is in his first season at Valdosta. He won two state championships during 11 seasons as head coach at Colquitt County.

Buford (11-1), the Region 8 champion, defeated Hughes 44-15 in its quarterfinal game. The Wolves are coached by Bryant Appling, a longtime Buford assistant coach who was promoted to head coach a year ago and led the team to a state title.
