This week’s Football Fridays in Georgia game will feature a showdown between Marietta and Parkview at the Big Orange Jungle in Lilburn.

Marietta (11-2) will meet Parkview (12-1) in the Class 7A semifinals, with the winner advancing to the state championships at Georgia State Stadium to play the winner of the Lowndes-North Gwinnett game.

The teams feature two of the most offensive-minded clubs in the state.

Marietta, led by quarterback Harrison Bailey and tight end Erik Gilbert, is coming off a 42-10 win over Mill Creek. Parkview, behind the power running of tailback Cody Brown, trounced Archer 35-17 in the third round.

Marietta is in the semifinals for the first time since 1994 and is seeking the school’s first state title since 1967.

Parkview is in the semifinals for the first time since 2004 and is seeking its fifth state championship and first since 2002.

The teams have met twice, with each holding a win.
