The seaman had a storied career in the Navy. Over 27 years he served, he survived the surprise attack by Japan, was shot down over the Pacific and was uninjured in the Korean War.

Shipfitter Third Class John Malcolm Donald died on December 7, 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor. On April 11, 2018, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency identified his remains. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery Thursday February 9, 2023.
