A tubular cloud formation passed by Truist Park in metro Atlanta on Tuesday evening, which prompted fear and speculation on social media.
The object was likely either a meteor or space junk, with most sightings of the streak of light and fireball coming from Georgia and South Carolina, the National Weather Service said.
Those in North America have the best shot at seeing the shower at about 1 a.m. on the East Coast or 10 p.m. on the West Coast.
Dashcam footage and home surveillance video captured the fireball that lit up the night sky on Monday.
