In honor of the 50th anniversary of Hank Aaron breaking Babe Ruth's home run record 715 fans stand on the field to each holding a sign to commemorate an Aaron home run before a baseball game between New York Mets and Atlanta Braves Monday, April 8, 2024, in Atlanta. Aaron passed Ruth on April 8, 1974.

50 years after Hank Aaron's 715th homer, Hall of Fame announces statue, Postal Service unveils stamp

Baseball's Hall of Fame will unveil a bronze statue of Hank Aaron on May 23, and the U.S. Postal Service will release a commemorative stamp picturing Aaron in his Atlanta Braves uniform. Both announcements came on the 50th anniversary of Aaron's 715th home run, which topped the record 714 hit by Babe Ruth.

50 years later, a Braves fan shares long-private video of Hank Aaron's 715th home run

Just in time for the 50-year anniversary of Hank Aaron's record 715th home run, Charlie Russo is making available footage he shot of the homer. The 81-year-old, who runs a fish market in Savannah, followed Aaron's family onto the field with a video camera after Aaron passed Babe Ruth and filmed the celebration around home plate.

In addition to the rare 1933 Babe Ruth card, Memory Lane Inc. says the sale will feature more than 1,000 items including "some of the finest known examples of other Hall of Fame players including Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig, Honus Wagner, Ted Williams and Cy Young, as well as World Series program books dating back to 1903."
