A Lowndes County man was killed Wednesday clearing storm felled trees from a roadway, one of the dangers of Hurricane Idalia even after it has passed.

Thousands are without power Thursday morning and many schools are closed after Idalia barreled through Georgia Wednesday.

The conservative Georgia Freedom Caucus is holding a press conference next week to call for a special session of the legislature.

Hurricane Idalia barreled into South Georgia this morning, tracking toward the state's largest coastal city, Savannah.

The storm is bringing down power lines across South Georgia where power companies report at least 100,000 outages.

A rare super blue moon will be in the sky tonight at the same time that Hurricane Idalia is expected to bring its storm surge.

Tropical Storm Idalia is currently forecast to make landfall as a Category 3 hurricane along the Florida Big Bend on the morning of August 30, 2023. Meteorologists expect it will then weaken to a Category 1 hurricane as the center moves into far southeast Georgia later that evening.
