1. Senate panel backs permitless carry bill
- Dallas Republican State Sen. Jason Anavitarte is the lead sponsor of SB 319.
- Anavitarte argues that the bill would deter criminal activity, but Democrats are pushing back against that notion.
- If the bill's passed, Georgians who want to carry a handgun could do so without going through the licensing process that usually requires a fingerprint, background check and $75 fee.
2. Democrats cry foul over GOP state lawmakers’ remake of local redistricting
- On Tuesday, the Republican-led House Governmental Affairs Committee passed a redrawn map for Gwinnett County’s Board of Commissioners.
- GPB's Lawmakers talked more about HB 873 passing out of committee.
3. Business leaders speak out against the Buckhead cityhood movement
- A letter from more than 30 businesses spoke out against the move to remove the affluent northern neighbood from Atlanta.
4. David Perdue leans into endorsement from former President Trump with his first TV commercial.
- Perdue's campaign released the 30-second spot which features Trump, not Perdue, speaking for most of its duration.
5. Mental health bill gains bipartisan support under the Gold Dome.
- Rep. Oliver provided an update on HB 1013.
- The bill looks to provide comprehensive health care reform.
- Oliver says the bill will also allow Georigans to pay for mental health resources through their insurance in the same way that they would pay to treat a broken arm.
