On Monday, Vice President Mike Pence swore in Georgia’s new U.S. senator, Kelly Loeffler. While she may be co-owner of Atlanta’s professional women’s basketball team, The Dream, and a successful finance executive, many Georgia voters don’t know much about their new senator. Greg Bluestein of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution joins On Second Thought to tell us what we know, what we don’t know, and what to pay attention to in the coming months.

The Popeye’s and Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich wars made headlines in 2019. And last month, Popeye’s dropped some new weapons in its arsenal: “The Offset,” “The Quavo,” “The Takeoff,” and “The Tour Rider”. These meals are named in honor of the Atlanta hip-hop group Migos, and were available for a limited time only. We speak with Kate Taylor, who follows the food, beverage and retail industries for Business Insider, about the partnership and what it indicates about trends in the fast food industry.

Last year, Atlanta’s First Presbyterian Church started their own version of the show Shark Tank. It’s a social entrepreneurship venture called Epiphany. This program puts out a call for budding business ideas, offers support to select entrepreneurs through business development groups, and continue to help them refine their pitch to be selected for a grant from Epiphany’s pool of money. The second-ever round of applications opened this week, and we learn more about it from the chair of the Epiphany program for 2020, Ellen Adair Wyche.
