Saturday Is The Deadline To Sign Up For Marketplace Health Insurance

Only a few days are left to sign up for an insurance plan through the marketplace. Saturday is the deadline.
Enrollment is far less than it was last year, with less than half of Georgians signing up for a plan as of Saturday, Dec. 8, according to Georgia Health News.
Last year’s final total was roughly 481,000, and 233,584 Georgians had enrolled for Affordable Care Act insurance.
The marketplace offers four categories of health insurance plans: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. These categories show how you and your plan share costs, but have nothing to do with quality of care.
The healthcare.gov website offers an option to find local help in your community for navigating the plans.
Statewide, more than 250,000 people — or more than a quarter of the currently uninsured residents — qualify for a zero-premium plan, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation report released this week. This is after accounting for eligibility for tax credits or subsidies.
"We estimate that 27% of uninsured individuals who could shop on the Marketplace, or 4.2 million people nationwide, are eligible to purchase a bronze plan with $0 premiums after subsidies in 2019," the KFF report states.
In addition to the main website, Spanish speaking users can sign up for health care via CuidadodeSalud.gov
