GPB returns to Gwinnett County this week when Football Fridays in Georgia will broadcast the game between Parkview and North Gwinnett at Tom Robinson Memorial Stadium in Suwanee. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

North Gwinnett (2-1) lost to Winter Park, Fla., 31-19 on Friday. Parkview (2-0) did not play last week.

North Gwinnett, coached by Bill Stewart, won the Class 7A championship in 2017. The Bulldogs, who compete in Region 7-7A, bring a strong defense to the table. Defensive lineman Kayden McDonald is a preseason All-America pick, linebacker Grant Godfrey has committed to Kentucky and lineman Tyler Walton has committed to Wake Forest. The offense lost seven starters and quarterback Ethan Washington suffered a season-ending injury in the spring.

Parkview, coached by Eric Godfree, is trying to return to the form that allowed it to win back-to-back region championships in 2018-19. The Panthers, who compete in Region 4-7A, are led by quarterback Colin Houck, who has thrown for 4,095 yards and 42 touchdowns during his career. Four starting offensive linemen return and that’s helped running back Khyair Spain get off to a great start. On defense, the talented secondary is led by juniors Jalyn Crawford and Terrence Curtis.

North Gwinnett won last year’s game 34-27 and leads the series 4-3.
