About the Wolves: Buford was the No. 2 seed from Region 8 and has won eight of its last nine. The Wolves had three players named to the all-region team – senior point guard Alahn Sumler, 6-foot-7 senior Jaylon Taylor and 6-foot-5 junior London Williams. Wood, a 1990 Buford graduate, is going to the state championship in his first season. He replaced Hall of Famer Eddie Martin, who won two championships with the Wolves and took a position as special adviser at Georgia Southern.

Grovetown Warriors

How they got there: Def. Northside Warner Robins, def. Alexander, def. Wheeler, def. Hughes.

About the Warriors: Grovetown won the Region 3 championship and has won 17 straight games. Grovetown knocked off two-time defending state champion Wheeler in the third round. Frankquon Sherman was named Region 3 Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6 junior averages 16.5 points and 7.7 rebounds. First-team pick Malik Ferguson (13.0 points, 3.6 assists) and second-team selections Derrion Reid (9.8 points, 3.4 rebounds) and Khaleed Haywood (7.3 points, 3.3 assists)  and Markel Freeman (11.1) lead the balanced attack. Grovetown is seeking its first state championship.
