About the Lions: Luella won the Region 5 championship and has a 12-game winning streak. The Lions are led by Region 5 Player of the Year Evangelia Davlakou, a 5-foot-5 senior who averages 13.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.0 steals. Others named to the first-team all-region squad were Ariana Dyson (13.5 points, 9.0 rebounds), Natalie Martin (7.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.0 steals) and Trinity Layton (9.1 points, 6.8 rebounds). Sophomore Milani Smith (11 points, 5.7 rebounds) was an honorable mention choice. Luella, which defeated defending champion Baldwin in the Final Four,  is seeking its first state championship.

Marist War Eagles

How they got there: Def. North Oconee, def. Hardaway, def. Heritage-Catoosa, def. Pickens.

About the War Eagles: Marist won the Region 6 championship and has a 13-game winning streak. Although Marist did not lose a region contest and swept through the tournament, the War Eagles did not have a girl make the all-region first team. Avery Fantucci and Lexy Fakaris were second-team choices and Abby Lindsay, Kate Fletcher and Lauren Kim were named to the third-team. Marist has never won a girls basketball championship.
