The Milton Eagles earned their first trip to the state football championship on Friday with a 28-17 win over the Lowndes Vikings in the Class 7A semifinals. 

Milton (12-2) took a 21-0 lead and withstood a Lowndes comeback that trimmed the margin to 21-17. Milton put the game away when Jordan Yates threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Holden Shaw.

Yates threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score. The Georgia Tech commitment also threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Leonard and ran for a 6-yard touchdown.

Josh Edwards scored Milton's first touchdown on a 1-yard run. 

Lowndes (10-4) scored on a 47-yard from Travis Tisdale, who rushed for 169 yards, a 2-yard run by Gary Osby and a 27-yard field goal from Ashton Musgrove. 

Milton will play Colquitt County on Dec. 12 for the Class 7A championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
