Join the GPB team for the Football Fridays in Georgia broadcast, which features a South Georgia Showdown between Lowndes and Colquitt County at the Hog Pen in Moultrie. 

Here’s a look at both teams that will be featured this week.

Colquitt County Packers

Record, ranking: 9-0, 2-0 in Region 1-7A. Ranked No. 1. 

Last week: Defeated Tift County 45-7

Coach: Rush Propst is 114-34 in 11 seasons, 290-95 overall. 

Best players: Daijun Edwards is a four-star running back who is one of the top prospects in Georgia, with offers from Georgia Auburn and Florida State, and Ty Leggett has been offered by Pitt. Guard Kam Bell, a 6-3, 325-pound senior, has 11 offers that include Alabama. Defensive backs Jay Ward (Kentucky) and Rashad Revels (UAB) and defensive tackle Brian Merritt (offers from West Virginia, Pitt and Georgia State) lead the defense Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald is one of the best in the country, with range up to 57 yards. 

Lowndes Vikings

Record, ranking: 7-2, 1-1 in Region 1-7A

Last week: Defeated Camden County 28-27

Coach: Randy McPherson is 164-43 in 17 seasons. 

Best players: Running back Travis Tisdale is one of the most exciting players in the state, a threat to score almost any time he gets the ball. Tisdale has already surpassed, 1,300 yards rushing. Freshman quarterback Jacurri Brown is a threat to throw or pass. Ty'Ehir Sims and Ghetti Brown are the top receivers. Playmakers on defense include Gary Osby, Tiberius Drocea and Josh Brown, a trio of juniors. 

Series: Lowndes leads the series 25-17. Lowndes won 51-45 in double overtime in 2018 to break a four-game losing streak to the Packers.
