GPB’s Football Fridays in Georgia will return on September 11th, when the Walton Raiders travel to Woodstock,GA.   to take on the hard charging Etowah Eagles.

Right now both these teams have gotten off to a great start at 2-0.  Etowah  has a 54-21 win over Marietta and a 49-7 win over Sequoyah to its credit.  Walton, likewise unbeaten, has defeated  South Gwinnett 49-17  and those Marietta Blue Devils 40-0.    So already this season, there is a common opponent, Etowah beating Marietta 54-21,  while  Walton beat the Blue Devils 40-0.  That is pretty Even-Steven in my book foreshadowing a very competitive matchup in week 4.

Etowah has a very talented running back in Tyray Devezin who is just a junior, and rushed for over 15 hundred yards and 14 TD’s last year.  QB Patrick  Ferris is an accurate passer and  Bronson Rechsteiner has plenty of break a way speed and is the big play threat for the Eagles.

Walton has an outstanding tight end in Sam Letton and a big offensive lineman in Forrest Evans.  QB Addison Shoup completed 15 of 20 passes against Marietta while KK Brooks was the primary pigskin carrier for the Raiders.

So while this week has a lot of big matchups, most notably Buford at McEachern,  I am already getting ready for the return of Football Fridays in Georgia on Georgia Public Broadcasting.  And from Friday September 11th on, we will be with you every single Friday night all the way to the state championships in December.  Football is back.  And life is good.
