Just in time for Spring Break camping trips, Georgia State Parks has announced a new incentive program for campers and geocachers. The GeoCamp Loyalty Program enables campers to earn a free night of camping. Campers will receive one sticker for each night they pay to camp ($15-$25 for tent camping in most parks). After earning 9 stickers, the 10th night is free.

There are select locations where the program is valid (think of that “at participating locations” phrase at the end of every restaurant commercial ever made). Of Georgia’s 63 state parks, 38 are participating in the program and they are truly in every region of the state, including three along the coast.

If you’ve been itching to see in real life what you’ve seen in GPB original productions like Georgia Traveler and Georgia Outdoors, this is a great time for that. Go fly fishing in North Georgia like Georgia Traveler host David Zelski or tour local wineries while camping at Unicoi State Park or one of several other North Georgia parks. I recently watched The Water’s Edge and was inspired by the images. Georgia is home to some truly beautiful places and watching this – and every other Georgia Outdoors episode, if I’m honest – reminds me that I miss nature.

I wasn’t brave enough to take my son camping before he was potty trained, but that hasn’t been an excuse for a while now. Ever the savvy shopper (I have an actual notebook for coupons), a deal like this might be just the inspiration I need to get back into nature with my family.

Do you have a favorite state park for camping? or fishing? or canoeing? or golfing?
