The War We Are Living

If you ask Colombian politicians, they will tell you the 40-year-old civil war is over. But The War We Are Living reveals another Colombia, where the war is all too real - and the battle is over gold. In Cauca, in the Pacific southwest, two extraordinary Afro-Colombian women fight to hold onto the gold-rich land that has sustained their community through small-scale mining for centuries.

About the Program

Women War and Peace

Women, War & Peace challenges the conventional wisdom that war and peace are men's domain. The series reveals that women have become primary targets in today's armed conflicts and are suffering unprecedented casualties; yet, they are simultaneously emerging as necessary partners in brokering lasting peace and as leaders in forging new international laws governing conflict.
