Deion Colzie is a starting wide receiver for Athens Academy. The 6-foot-4, 193-pound senior is the No. 14 overall receiver in the country and No. 11 player in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Colzie’s recruitment process has been anything but typical. After receiving offers from all the top programs across the country, including his hometown team the Georgia Bulldogs, the 4-star recruit chose to commit to Notre Dame in October 2019. Colzie then decided to decommit from the Fighting Irish in March, stating that he rushed his decision, but then recommitted in September.

Colzie said it meant a lot to him that Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and the Irish coaching staff stuck with him and continued to build their relationships throughout the process.

Find out why Colzie recommitted to Notre Dame and learn more about his recruitment in an interview with GPB’s Hannah Goodin:

Colzie said his favorite part of the entire recruitment process was the photo shoots he got to be a part of on every visit. He said he loved putting on each team’s uniform and taking cool pictures.
