Soul-singer Otis Redding is known for a number of unforgettable tracks. But one song is considered to be his biggest hit: "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay."

  • Redding, who hailed from Macon, recorded that song on December 7, 1967.  Just three days later, he would die in a plane crash. This song was the first ever posthumous #1 single in the U.S.
  • Today, Maconites and the rest of Georgia remember a favorite son by the name of Otis Redding.
