President Donald Trump is visiting Middle Georgia Sunday as part of a larger effort to secure Republican victories in close midterm elections.

He will join Republican Secretary of State and gubernatorial nominee Brian Kemp in Macon Sunday afternoon in hopes of defeating Democrat Stacey Abrams on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Trump's visit comes at the tail end of the general election race, much like his last-minute endorsement of Kemp in the May primary. And both men are hoping for a similar effect. Kemp scored a blowout victory over favored Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, setting up the tight showdown with Abrams this fall.
