The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra announced its programming for the 2026-2027 season Wednesday. This year’s performances will focus on the works of Johannes Brahms.

The new documentary La Orquesta spotlights an unusual Georgia ensemble: the Buford Highway Orchestra Project. 

They’re named after a flower, they compete to level up, and they’re all still in high school. They’re the Strelitzia Trio, three Atlanta-area teens who came together in 2024 and quickly jelled. 

The concert violinist and R.E.M. bassist performed with the Macon-Mercer Symphony Orchestra featuring students from the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings and spoke with GPB's Kristi York Wooten before the show.

The symphony kicks off its diamond anniversary season with Broadway and opera highlights featuring soprano Indra Thomas on Oct. 25, 2025.

Since 2011, American violinist Joshua Bell has also been music director of the London-based Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, whose first pandemic-era U.S. tour together kicks off Feb. 22 in Columbus, Georgia.
