1 fatally shot on Atlanta area transit bus that led officers on wild rush hour chase, police say

Television news footage showed the bus barreling along for miles in rush hour traffic Tuesday afternoon, striking several vehicles. Police said officers initially responded to a report of gunfire on the bus and a possible hostage situation near downtown Atlanta but the bus took off.

Atlanta police say one person has died after a suspect hijacked a commuter bus Tuesday and led police on a chase from downtown Atlanta into the suburbs.

Four people shot at downtown Atlanta food court, mayor says

Mayor Andre Dickens said on the social media site X that the shooting happened at the Peachtree Center food court. Atlanta police said in a post that all four who were shot were alert and conscious. One of the four is believed to be the suspect, authorities said.

Homer Rice, who as athletic director hired some of Georgia Tech's most successful coaches and implemented the school's Total Person Program, has died. He was 97. Rice died Monday, Georgia Tech announced on Monday night.

Defense attorney for rapper Young Thug found in contempt, ordered to spend 10 weekends in jail

A Georgia judge has ordered a lawyer for rapper Young Thug to spend the next 10 weekends in jail after finding him in contempt. Fulton County Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Glanville on Monday ordered attorney Brian Steel jailed after the lawyer refused to tell him how he found out about a meeting between the judge, prosecutors and a prosecution witness.
