Peach season has arrived in Middle Georgia. Here’s where to go to buy fresh peaches

It’s time for peach season in Georgia, and eager shoppers are already on the hunt for fresh, juicy peaches.
While many big box stores offer peaches, some of the freshest peaches can be found right here in Middle Georgia at local farms and storefronts. Here’s a list of farms within an hour and a half of the area, where you can go to find the state’s most famous fruit this summer.
Dickey Farms
Dickey Farms, in Crawford County, has been in the Dickey family for more than a century and offers peaches all summer long. Visitors can stop by the orchards and grab a bite of peach ice cream and cobbler.

Hours: Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Lane Southern Orchards
Lane Southern Orchards, in Fort Valley, is one of the biggest peach producers in Georgia. The farm has thousands of acres of trees covering Peach County. Just off Interstate 75, the orchards offer a farmstand with peaches, peach products, baked goods and ice cream.

Pearson Farm
Pearson Farm, outside of Fort Valley, offers fresh-grown peaches and peach ice cream at their farm store starting in mid-May. The farm’s peaches can also be ordered online and shipped anywhere in the country, with a box of 13 selling for $54.

Nu Sunrise Farms
Nu Sunrise Farms, in Griffin, sells fresh peaches at their farm stand in addition to other fresh produce and meat. Peaches are coming off the trees now and will be for sale beginning next week.

Reed’s Way Farmers Market at Everett Farms
Reed’s Way Farmers Market at Everett Farms will begin selling peaches and peach products during the first week of June. The market also offers a range of direct-to-consumer fresh fruits and vegetables.

Thompson Market
Thompson Market, in McDonough, is a storefront offering fresh peaches alongside a range of other fresh fruits and vegetables from nearby farms. It’s conveniently located just off I-75 going towards Atlanta.

Hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
CJ Orchards Inc
CJ Orchards Inc is a family owned and operated orchard offering fresh-picked peaches starting in mid-June. The orchard is located in Rutledge, about an hour and a half’s drive from Macon.
