Tuesday on Political Rewind, election politics return to the spotlight as next week’s runoff elections draw near. As of Friday, more than 250,000 people have cast ballots already.

More than two-thirds of the votes cast have been mailed-in absentee ballots, according to the secretary of state’s office. There is an almost even split between Republican and Democratic votes cast.

One of the races drawing attention is a Republican runoff race in northwest Georgia where comments from business executive Marjorie Taylor Greene have been labelled anti-Semitic and racist.

Emory Prof. Alan Abramowitz said Greene's controversial statements might not hurt her among her strong conservative base.

"Part of the appeal is that the president himself has given voice to these kind of conspiracy theories,” he said.
