Last October, birder Jason Ward joined On Second Thought to outline the obstacles he faced in a field dominated by older, whiter birdwatchers. He told us about what brought him into the world of birdwatching, unique challenges resulting from prejudice, and how his body of work is bringing his passion to new communities. 

(2)  How Atlanta Native Helped Take Down One Of America's Most Powerful Mobsters

Stephen L. Carter visited the show in November 2018 to tell the story of his grandmother, Eunice Hunton Carter, New York’s first African American Assistant District Attorney. An Atlanta native and granddaughter to enslaved people, she led the legal battle against infamous mobster Charles “Lucky” Luciano in 1936.
