Fulton County Officials Say 2 COVID-19 Patients Are Father, Son

Health officials said Tuesday the two Fulton County residents who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus are father and son.
The 56-year-old Fulton County man had traveled to Atlanta from Milan, Italy, on Feb. 22 and didn't show symptoms of the disease until a few days after his flight, Fulton Health Director Elizabeth Ford said.
Both he and his son are recovering at home.
“Their symptoms have subsided,” Ford said. “The mother and other child are slightly symptomatic and will be tested shortly.”

Health officials said passengers who flew on a jet with the infected man were not screened because he wasn't showing any symptoms at the time he landed in Atlanta.
Ford said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advised those passengers do not have to be tested for the virus at this time.

This week, Georgia became the 12th U.S. state to report confirmed coronavirus infections.
Fulton County public health leadership also discussed the best prevention methods for coronavirus:
• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
• Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water is not available
• People who are sick should always cover their coughs and sneezes using a tissue or the crook of their elbow
• People who are sick should stay home from work or school until they are well
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with your unwashed hands
