On this edition of GPB's Music Minute, we feature an artist who uses his gift of music to not only entertain his fans, but to benefit noble causes.

With four studio albums and an authentic vocal style, Grammy Award-winning artist Anderson .Paak has a music library that is recognized across the country.

However, it was here in Atlanta on Nov. 15 that he took the stage to showcase some of his greatest hits for a few of his biggest fans.

Admission for the concert, held at Variety Playhouse, went towards aiding the International Rescue Committee, a global humanitarian organziation that helps Americans, immigrants and refuges in need.

The program offers resources within medical, economic and academic developments as well as job assistance and skill-building workshops in U.S. based locations.

The struggles of the program's participants hit close to home for .Paak, who dealt with homelessness before his career success.

“As someone who’s struggled, who not too long ago had no job or place to call home, I know the importance of being given a fighting chance,” Paak said in a press release. “Music was my fighting chance."

The Atlanta show is one of three events held by .Paak, in partnership with Modelo and iHeartMedia, to raise awareness for the IRC. The other two concerts were held in San Francisco on Nov. 13 and New York on Nov. 17.

.Paaks's most recent album, Ventura, debuted in the top ten of the U.S. Billboard Music Chart and subsequently earned him two Grammy Award nominations.

While it is unclear when the musician will return to Atlanta, there is no argument that his performance was a night for audiences to remember.
