Science Proves Men Undergo Hormonal Changes When They Become Fathers
Father's Day is just around the corner. It's a time to celebrate and reflect on how your dad or dads shaped your life — for better or for worse. But, have you thought about how you affected your father?
Scientists now know that men experience measurable changes when they become parents, which is why researchers at Emory University have been looking at that connection. They conducted interviews on the rewards and challenges of being a dad with new fathers from metro Atlanta and are exploring the hormonal and neurobiological changes that come with being a dad.
James Rilling is a professor of anthropology at Emory University. He spoke to On Second Thought host Virginia Prescott about ongoing research on the neurological and hormonal influence of fatherhood.
