Georgia could make it more difficult for underage girls to get an abortion. Legislation filed in the Georgia state Senate would require underage girls to justify why they should be allowed to avoid notifying a parent or guardian if they are getting an abortion. At the federal level, President Trump has vowed to see the Roe v. Wade decision overturned. We move away from the political side the abortion debate, and focus on the science. For that, we talked with Didi Saint Louis, an Atlanta-based physician for reproductive health.

Next week, we’re going to visit Atlanta-based Adult Swim. The station creates a number of hit TV shows like Rick and Morty, Squidbillies, and the Venture Brothers. There’s even a 24/7 online Adult Swim station that’s attracted a large following. Adult Swim has also been an important ally to independent musicians since its inception in 2001. We met with Jason DeMarco, who oversees all the music you hear on Adult Swim.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is looking at possibly creating a truck only highway. This 40-mile highway would go from Macon to McDonough, and it would be the first of its kind in the nation. The Georgia Department of Transportation estimates that traffic would decrease by 40 percent by 2030. This could make a big difference in the state’s truck rollover problem. A report by the American Transportation Research Institute reviewed large trailer truck rollovers in 31 states from 2001 to 2009. Georgia ranked near the top with some of the most rollovers. We talked about this issue with John Woodrooffe of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, Atlanta attorney Eric Rogers, and GDOT spokeswoman Natalie Dale.

Finally, singer and songwriter Kate Pierson of the B-52’s adds two more songs to our essential Georgia Playlist.
