Today on “Political Rewind,” President Trump and the topic of tone. A month into his administration, is Trump starting to realize that what he says may not be as important as how he says it? Take his statements on the vandalism at a Jewish cemetery and bomb threats at Jewish Community Centers across the country: when he’s off the cuff, he’s still a little rough but pulls it together when his remarks are prepared. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer laments, “It’s never good enough.”

Our panelists also discussed the contentious town hall meetings that are happening across the country as members of Congress take a week off from Washington. Amid claims of “professional protestors,” we ask whether the people showing up now are any more “organized” than the Tea Partiers were  years ago. Make sure to read Patricia Murphy’s Roll Call column on town hall meetings.

In local politics, we talked about Georgia Rep. Earl Ehrhart’s bill that seeks to cut public funding from any universities who declare themselves “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants. And it’s the return of RFRA. State Sen. Marty Harbin is taking another swing at legislation that Gov. Deal refused to sign last year.

Finally, a major story continues to develop in Atlanta at City Hall: allegations of bribery for construction contracts. Is there a “culture of corruption?” The story is sure to draw intense scrutiny during the upcoming Atlanta mayor’s race.
