Dental care can be hard to find in Georgia, which has the second-lowest number of dentists per capita in the US.

Georgia ranks 49th in the United States in the number of dentists per capita, according to research by Georgia State University and Georgia Tech. Not getting regular dental care can lead to major health problems, but many people just can’t afford it.

That’s why Dr. Nooredin Nurani started the “Community of Smiles” free dental clinic. It will be held for the tenth year Saturday, September 10 in Lawrenceville. We talk with Dr. Nurani and Georgia Health News editor Andy Miller about why affordable, quality dental care is out of reach for so many Georgians.
